Rafael:  Thank you very much, I was having a huge headache to solve the very same problem!

Ray:  Having the same problem. Very frustrating. Luckily, for some reason my released version worked on the iPad itself, but now I can't get it to run in the simulator. Getting no such table, which I'm guessing is an initialization error. Will continue to investigate.

Jeremy:  FYI, I've just tried it with the SQLite 3.7.0 preview and the same problem occurs.
Also, I'm not using any extra third-party libraries with my SQLite, so the problem isn't your Unicode extension.

Jeremy:  I'm having the same problem with compiling SQLite against iOS 4 for the iPad simulator, but in my case it works fine running on an actual iPad (also works in the iPhone simulator and on an iPod Touch).
Same problem with 3.6.23.1, 3.6.23, and at least back to 3.6.21. Compiling against iOS 3.2 makes it work, though that's not really an option for iPhone (as opposed to iPad) apps.
I have no idea what to do about it or how big a problem it really is...

Pascal:  The problem seems to have deep roots, however there is a solution, see the updated post. :)

Google vs. Privacy and Rixstep vs. me

Wednesday, June 6th 2007 - 23:28
Wow, I got a very dedicated Blog entry on rixscape.com!! And, not to forget, their I'M STUPID AND I'M PROUDâ„¢ award.

But this made me think a little. I actually enjoy reading the blog there, there are some interesting and some debatable entries there; I'd call the article about comparing Google and the Nazis in terms of data mining to the latter. So I wrote an email where I... ah, you can read the whole message there, fancy formatted in pink Comic font.
I did not expect an answer, not to speak of a blog entry, but in general I don't think much of people who don't explain their point but switch right to assault mode and affront their counterpart. So, well, another accuser of Google who can't believably explain why we should avoid Gmail in particular and Google in general. Sad actually, there are so many of them out there, yet noone manages to change anything. It's still only FUD to me, no convincing points.

But on topic; Google tells you that some program will scan your emails in order to provide targeted ads. That is: You open a message, a script determines the contents of your email (most probably by searching for keywords) and displays ads adapted to the contents of this email.

So what? It's not that someone sits there and reads my mail! Yes, I don't want people to read my mail. Anyway, why should Google do that but not all those other free webmail providers? Do they really have that many employees? So what should I fear from Google I should not fear from Yahoo or even MSN Live?
Oh well, if there's something sensitive I don't trust neither Google nor everything else out in the web, I use GPG; good luck reading those messages.
But why is it always Google and not Yahoo, Microsoft (remember, they control 90% of the PCs out there), why not facebook or myspace?

But anyway, back to rixstep, that entry offers two good opportunities: Let's see how that influences the amount of spam I get on mentioned Gmail account, I am at 357 per month at the moment. Second, let's see where in Googles ranking that page shows up when I search for my name. =D

Update: It's now a week later and my spambox catched 389 mails.

ich finds ja auch manchmal komisch, was google sich für neue sachen ausdenkt, aber hey, dann benutz ich gmail halt einfach nicht. what worry about... (gratulation zum award)
